TEAM
History
CIM Capital NV has a history as an advisory and investment company, based in Antwerp, focusing on turnaround situations in Belgium. Leveraging its network of private and institutional investors, CIM Capital successfully realized several restructurings over the years with very hands-on financial and operational involvement.
With the acquisition of Veritas end 2019 and the Covid-19 pandemic early 2020, the idea grew to create a fund dedicated to investments in companies in difficulties. Erik Verkest joined Marc Van Hool, Bart Onderbeke and Jan Peeters in CIM Capital early 2020 to lead in the set-up and management of the CIM Capital Restruct Fund I (CCR Fund).
CCR Fund has raised EUR 65 million from both private and institutional investors. In addition to Belgian captains of industry and high net worth individuals, the Belgian Federal, Flemish and Walloon governments have also invested via stakes held by FPIM, PMV and Sogepa respectively. CCR Fund invests via majority shareholdings – often with co-investors with in-depth sector knowledge.
To be able to also tailor to smaller companies in need, CIM Ventures was set up to advise and/or invest in smaller enterprises, raised in a deal-by-deal setting, and managed by a separate team. CIM Ventures has led several restructurings, building on the strengths of the CIM Capital team: long term experience in complementary fields, reactive and fast decision making & deal completion, always with an eye for opportunities.
